German striker Moroslave Klose has become the player with the third most number of games played in the history of the World Cup by entering in the second half in the 1-0 win over the United States, for the third round of the group stage, this Thursday, at Arena Pernambuco. Klose has hit the milestone of 21 matches in the World Cup, passing Brazilian Cafu and Polish player Lato.
He has now caught up to Argentina's Maradona, Germany's Seeler and Poland's Zimuda.
Ahead of Klose now is only his compatriot Matthaeus, with 25 games, and Italian Maldini, with 23. This is the fourth time Klose has played in a World Cup tournament. He also played in 2002, 2006, 2010, the same amount as Maldini (90, 94, 98 and 2002). Matthaeus played in five World Cups (82, 86, 90, 94 and 98).
